Seller description
Bright on one face, earthy and pastel on the other. Hand-spun wool, woven flat on our looms in Maimana. Hand-spun wool, plant dyes Washed and sun-dried One of one, never restocked Tapa-yi Bahari means the spring hill in Dari, a language spoken in Maimana, the Afghan town where this kilim was woven on our own looms. It took two to four months, in hand-spun wool coloured with root and bark in small batches, so the soft bands of colour, called abrash, are part of the weave. Each kilim is woven once, and no other kilim has this exact pattern. When it sells, the listing stays up marked Sold. We do not restock it. Woven in Maimana, Afghanistan. Washed, sun-dried and finished in Pakistan, and shipped to you from there. Wool warp and weft, no pile, about 3 to 5 mm thick.
